The Callaway Org 14 is designed to be used on a motor cart, so there’s a slot for the cart strap behind the upper rangefinder pouch that gives you extra storage space you wouldn’t get otherwise. The left side pocket also has a cleverly hidden sleeve for your golf umbrella plus slots for tees on the exterior. It’s clear Callaway put a lot of thought and took feedback from lots of golfers to make this bag so intuitive. A sign of a great golf bag is when you can easily access exactly what you need without interrupting your round.
Available in several different color combos, there is a lot to like about this new model from Callaway. It actually has a lot in common with the Nike model listed above, however there are some better features on this one that you might be interested in checking out.
The bag has a fifteen way top with full-length individual compartments, including an integrated putter compartment, helping you to keep your golf clubs organized. It also has eight other pockets, including two velour-lined valuables pockets. One of these pockets is sized for a range finder. Once you know the type of golf bag that you’re shopping for, it is a good idea to consider which features are most important to you. As you compare the different brands and models that are available on the market, you will notice that you can find pretty much any feature you want in any type of bag. But availability does vary from one model to the next. So, let’s take a look at some of the features that we consider to be the most important and you’ll be able to determine what makes a good golf bag for you.
Amazon buyer Kim was looking for an inexpensive golf bag as a gift and was pleased with the overall performance of this model, which is available in black with four different accent color options, including green, red, blue, or white.
Today, you can get highly functional and durable golf bags that don’t weigh a ton or cost an arm and a leg. You might not get all the bells and whistles of a staff or cart bag, but you will get plenty of storage for what you need for a day on the course like golf ball pockets, insulated beverage coolers and other accessory pockets. And if you’re someone who likes to walk, that’s really all you need. You don’t need all that extra weight on your back. A lighter bag will keep you more refreshed and focused, and that will almost certainly lead to more consistent shots and better scores. Some of the top brands in golf — Callaway, Titleist, TaylorMade, and Ping, to name a few — all make lightweight, versatile bags designed to make walking the course easy, comfortable, and enjoyable.
Sun Mountain winners of the 2018 Golf Digest Editors’ Choice awards are the 2.5+ for Ultralightweight Golf Bag, 4.5LS Supercharged for Golf Carry Bag, C-130 Supercharged for Golf Cart Bag, H2NO Lite for Waterproof Golf Bag, ClubGlider Meridian for Golf Travel Bag, and the Pathfinder 3 for Golf Push Cart.
One of the most impressive things about this one is that it comes with the matching rain hood. At this price point, you don’t really expect to get get a rain hood when you’re looking at cheap golf stand bags. And the durable build is also unexpected for this price. Those things make this one great buy and an incredible value for the money right now. Plus, it is our top pick for the lightest golf stand bag that’s worth the price.
Strap: Some bags have a double strap so you can carry it across both shoulders, which is more comfortable than a single strap. Some straps have more padding than others, making the bag easier to carry.
My biggest complaint with this one is the weight. Man, is it heavy for a hybrid bag! Luckily, it is easy to use with a cart, but you might regret this one if you do a lot of walking with it (just something to keep in mind). I also hate that it only has four full-length dividers and that the beverage cooler pocket can’t hold more cans in there.
When it comes to a product as simple as a golf bag, finding innovation isn’t easy. But the rotating inner segment of the Bag Boy Revolver FX Cart Golf Bag sets this one apart from the crowd. You can rotate the inner segment to be certain the golf club you need is close to you for easy access, even when the bag is attached to a riding cart with a roof.
As the name says, these bags combine the best of both worlds – carry and cart bags. These bags are larger than carry bags and weigh more, but are still light enough to carry around. They often come with tripods, characteristic of carry bags, but they often have wraps that let you secure the bag to a golf or push cart. The same goes for the pocket placement: the pockets are placed so they can be easily accessed easily from both the cart and the stand.
Larry Olmsted is well-known for being one of the world’s leading experts on golf travel and courses and has a great deal of knowledge about the best golf products on the market. Like he mentioned in his blog post, “I can tell you what gear to buy, especially for traveling, because I am a professional golf traveler. I’ve been writing about golf travel for more than 15 years and have logged millions of miles, played on every inhabited continent, and along the way, tested, purchased, cursed, praised, and broken lots of golf stuff.” [Read more…]
My biggest complaint here is that the dividers are not 14 full-length ones. For this 2016 model, Titleist only offers the full-length divider in the regular Titleist Deluxe Cart Bag model instead of the lightweight one. So, you’d have to buy it and it weighs 1.1 pounds more than this one, which isn’t worth it in my opinion.
Stand: A stand golf bag is made for walking golfers. This bag style contains one or two posts that you can extend by hand — almost like a kickstand on a bicycle — so when you’re standing over a shot and trying to select a club, the bag sits upright at a slight angle, making it easy to pick the right club. The stand also lifts the bag off the wet ground, keeping it cleaner.
As you can see, this one is loaded with great features. It’s easy to use with a cart, but if you decide to carry it then you’ve got that nicely padded strap to ease the burden. I love that it has so many pockets, including a beverage cooler pocket.
The Callaway Hyper-Lite 5 can accommodate clubs with oversized grips and has dedicated alignment shaft holders with outward facing club positioning. There is also a built-in bottle opener for those times you need a refreshing beverage.
Sun Mountain gave the 5.5 LS a large top, making it one of the easiest Sun Mountain bags for finding just the right club after you’ve employed the stand. However, Amazon buyer Samuel says the large, hard plastic top will dig into your back as you walk.

The bag’s double-strap system is made of a moisture-wicking material which keeps you cool and dry on those hot summer days. Other features include a nine-inch, five-way top with two full-length dividers to keep your clubs from jumbling, a removable rain hood, umbrella holder, and a strap channel to keep it secure and easily-accessible a cart.
Dividers: Dividers at the top of the golf bag will keep your clubs organized and will limit the number of times they crash into each other. Some bags have only a few dividers, while others have a dozen or more dividers. The dividers in a less expensive bag will only be at the top of the golf bag, while more expensive units will have dividers that run the length of the bag, keeping the handles of your golf clubs from becoming tangled.
Unlike many thin, pencil-style golf bags, the Callaway Hyper-Lite 1+ offers three divider sections that extend through the full length of the bag, ensuring your club handles won’t become tangled in the bag.
Honestly, this is the only complaint that I have with this one. But at the end of the day, if you’re on a riding cart then you can just take along a separate cooler and you’re all set. Other than that, there is honestly nothing else that I have found to complain about with this one.
If you’re going to be walking the course most of the time, then we suggest looking at the lightest golf bags in 2017 so that you’re not lugging around too much weight out there. Some of the best golf carry bags for walkers sometimes function as stand bags, but not all carry bags come with a stand. Instead, they are characterized by being lightweight and designed for carrying on your back or slinging over your shoulder. If you take a look at the Nike Air Sport Stand Bag listed up above, you will notice that it is very similar to this one. In fact, they share a lot of the same features except that this one is lighter.
There are a few major decisions you’ll need to make when deciding on a golf bag. The first, and most obvious being the decision between a cart bag and a stand bag. The main tradeoff decision you need to make is between mobility (lighter weight) and storage (heavier).

Up until the 1700s, most golf games were played by adhering to unofficial rules. These rules became standardized, however, under the game’s first governing body, an organization known as The Honourable Company of Edinburgh Golfers. In 1764, this organization approved recognizing a full “round” of golf as being comprised of 18 holes (as opposed to the previously acceptable 22).

This good-looking, sporty bag comes in several colors. The manufacturers who designed this bag have given full consideration to the golf carts, which will house them. The bottom is designed to fit over the lower bag rest of the Speed Cart and Micro cart so that the side-to-side movement is minimized when the cart is being moved.

One of the really great things about the 2015 Callaway Org 14 bag is that it weighs under 5 pounds, however the updated 2016 version clocks in it at around 5.6 pounds when empty. Sure, that isn’t even a full pound of difference in weight, but I like to go with the most lightweight option that I can find and I really hate that the 2016 edition of this one weighs a little more than the older version.
The bag weighs just five pounds and has adjustable shoulder straps, which feature Sensor Cool technology, which prevents moisture, so carrying this bag should not sap your energy, allowing you to enjoy your game of golf.
Our top choices in Carry bags are updated versions of Ping’s Hoofer and Ogio’s Cirrus. Each is similar in weight or lighter than Sun Mountain’s 4.5LS Supercharged, but the extra weight in the Sun Mountain bag is understandable because it’s outfitted to charge up to two electronic devices such as a phone, the first carry bag to have this feature.
The Callaway Org 14 is our pick for the best golf bag in 2017, because it has tons of pockets, smart design, and being lightweight enough to make it easy to carry around when you need to. The Org 14 line has been in production for a few years now and Callaway keeps improving it.
