Maneuverability (10 points) -How easy is it to load and unload the bags from the car? How easy is it to move through the airport? We closely examined the design of the wheels, the handle placement, as well as the structural base of the bag. Bags that performed poorly were awkward while walking. The top performers are not only easy to walk with but were also able to stand without assistance. Bags that were more stable through the middle section generally performed better.

The Ogio is the cheapest of our three options, coming in under $150. As far as travel bags go, you don’t want to go much cheaper than this. Your clubs are worth a decent amount of money, so you want to protect them as much as you can for what fits your budget. The Straight Jacket weighs 7.6 lbs – three pounds less than the Club Glove option – and thanks to its construction, it won’t be quite as durable. But since it’s a bit lighter, you can pack some extra shoes in. Averaging 4 long haul flights a month for over 6 years I can vouch for the durability of Club Glove. I use the Last Bag Collegiate which fits my cart bag (Ping Traverse). The key to any travel bag though is using a “stiff arm” – without it no bag will stop your graphite shafts getting broken.

I’m currently gaming a Bridgestone JGR that I got through a promotion WITH MGS. It has a bonded head. I agree that if your Driver etc are adjustable, remove the heads, and insert the shafts adapter down. However, the addition of a Stiff Arm or similar (saw hockey stick shaft here somewhere) is NEVER a bad idea.
I’ve been using the A99 hands down the best travel bag. It had a full length 9 in diameter PVC tube as the inner liner. The exterior looks like s normal golf bag. Two full length side pockets fit shoes raingear. Bottom has room for balls etc. Two wheels on bottom and s handle on the top make pulling in easy. It stands up on flat bottom. When you arrive at resort you remove the protective tube shaped head cover and it’s a gold bag you can carry by strap it place on a cart. These easily fit a trunk and weigh the sane as most carry bags. Priced under $200 can

Hybrid bags are best thought of as cart bags with the ability to stand. Most are larger than your typical stand bag and are usually used on carts, but can also be used for walking when needed. More and more manufacturers have begun creating hybrid bags, innovating to reduce weight and increase versatility while not sacrificing function.
For travel bags, our scoring centered around the protection of clubs and the durability of the bag. The possible storage within the bag and the storage of the bag after use were also considered. Maneuverability – especially through airports – was tested too.
It’s simple but important. If you’re going to play golf and travel, your clubs must arrive safely. A broken driver not only costs money to replace but also ruins your mood and maybe even your vacation. Investing in the very best to protect your clubs is an absolute must.
I’ve had and used a Samsonite hardcover travel bag for a few years and love it. It was fairly inexpensive compared to those in this list and has held up very well over the 9-10 times I’ve traveled with it the least 4-5 years.

There is adequate storage space for both golf clubs and travel supplies. The Glubglider Tour provides all the necessary features of a travel bag with the maneuverability of a standard suitcase.
Durability (25 points) – To determine durability, we evaluated the stitching of the bag along with the material used. Regardless of what you’re buying, you expect it to last. Travel bags, especially because they’re used so infrequently, need to be durable enough to last several years. Some bags are made of inexpensive materials, while the top performers in this category offer wheels, zippers, buckles, and materials that are built to last.
Side note: For any travel bag you choose, we recommend getting a Stiff Arm, made by Club Glove. This product is dead simple, but will add another layer of protection to you clubs. It’s an adjustable aluminum rod with a plastic head that you put in your bag alongside your tallest club. It acts as shield for your driver whenever the bag inevitably gets slung around and lands on its top throughout the course of your trip. Yes, it’s $30 for something that looks silly and seems inconsequential. But you’ll appreciate it when your $500 driver makes it to the course in one piece.
Look good on and off the course when you have the Titleist 14-Way Golf Stand Bag. Its dual strap carry system along with its top and lower handles, make carrying your bag on and off the course easier.
Surprising to me that the Club Glove Last Bag is so widely used on Tour, esp. considering Tour Pros spend so much time navigating airports. You’d think they’d want one that’s less cumbersome to maneuver (like the Sun Mountain). I get the durability aspect being a big deal (they use their bags WAY more than amateurs), but the Sun Mountain received a good durability score and it’s not like Tour Pros can’t afford to replace a bag.
