There’s a velour-lined pocket for your valuables, a beverage pocket and pockets for gear and accessories. Simple to transport from the car and on the course thanks to an integrated lift handle and a comfortable double-strap design, the Titleist Ultra Lightweight Stand Bag also features a three-way top and three full-length club dividers.
The C-130 has been awarded Best Golf Cart Bag for eight years and the addition of a portable power pack in this new for 2018 Supercharged version helped the bag maintain the top spot. (Click here to sign-up to be notified when the C-130 Supercharged bags are available.)
Strap: Some bags have a double strap so you can carry it across both shoulders, which is more comfortable than a single strap. Some straps have more padding than others, making the bag easier to carry.
Pencil: A pencil-style golf bag, also called a carry bag, is a small, lightweight, and skinny bag that’s easy to carry. These bags will fit on a cart, but they’re made for carrying. They won’t have as many pockets as other bag styles or the capacity to carry a full set of clubs easily, but they’re perfect for using at an executive course.
This great looking golf bag is lightweight, durable and functional. It has a five-way top so that you can keep those golf clubs organized. The six pockets in the bag include ball and tee pockets, a velour-lined valuables pocket, a large pocket for clothing, and an umbrella sleeve, so you should find a place for everything that you need for a successful day on the golf course.

Stand golf bags sacrifice some storage to be light enough for 18+ holes.  If you’re used to a cart bag where you can fit a six-pack and a couple kids in them, you’ll have to leave a few things in your car (or at home).  The Callaway Chev has your standard stand bag pockets – 1 velour pocket for your valuables, 1 full-length pocket that can *almost* fit my shoes in comfortably when not playing.
The storage capability of modern-day golf bags has drastically increased in the last few years. Clever design and intricate pocket placement have allowed for a magnification of the amount of storage that you have. A high quality golf bag will have different pockets designed for different pieces of equipment. In general cart bags will have more storage room because the issue of weight is less pronounced. Carry bags on the other hand will have less storage capability because walking a golf course can become very taxing when carrying unnecessary amounts of weight. If you’re someone who has lots of different training aids and likes trying out a ton of different pieces of equipment then buying it back with ample storage will be necessary for you.
The Callaway Org 14 is our pick for the best golf bag in 2017, because it has tons of pockets, smart design, and being lightweight enough to make it easy to carry around when you need to. The Org 14 line has been in production for a few years now and Callaway keeps improving it.
As the name implies, the Ping Hoofer is intended to be carried as you walk the course and is thoughtfully designed to accomplish said purpose as effortlessly as possible. It has well-padded, easily-adjustable shoulder straps and weighs just 5 pounds.
Staff bags are the heaviest and the most expensive in the market. They’re almost exclusively produced by the major club manufacturers, mainly because they sponsor the Tour players who use the bags. They are big, flashy, bright and they grab attention – how else are they going to recover the sponsorship money? Size naturally means they are heavy – usually weighing in around 10 pounds, sometimes even more. Professional golfers have the help of caddies to handle the bag, so there’s no need to restrict size or weight.  You better believe that if PGA Tour players had to carry their own bags, they’d get much lighter in a hurry.
Most good bags have the same construction: a full zip from top to bottom, a reinforced base and a padded top. The ClubGlider has one feature that stands out with its leg mechanism that extends and retracts for easy rolling from your car to the airport. When you load up your bag to the 50 pound weight limit, it gets heavy. The extra two wheels (that turn 360 degrees) take some of the pressure off and makes wheeling around a breeze. That’s what makes the Meridian a standout. Dragging a bag from your car to a hotel or around the airport is never *pleasant* but this bag makes it as close as possible. Sun Mountain makes four travel bag options: the Meridian, Tour Series, Journey and Pro Travel Bag. We’re recommending the Meridian for most golfers, as the Tour series is designed by huge cart bags and the Journey is made with Denier polyester instead of ballistic nylon. The Meridian comes in eight color options too, instead of just black and white.
Though I really like this one, there are still some room for improvements here. While it does have a beverage pocket, a small cooler pocket would be preferable to me. I’d also prefer a bag with individual spots for the clubs instead of the 5-way opening and two full length dividers.
The new KG:2 golf stand bag from Sun Mountain offers more of all that golfers have come to appreciate about Sun Mountain golf bags. Built on the same frame as the ever-popular Superlight 3.5; KG:2 offers more pockets, more hand-holds and more style. KG:2 features a 9.5” oval, four-way top with full-length club dividers, three integrated top handles and a new lift-assist pocket handle, eight pockets (including a new mobile phone specific pocket), and a cart-friendly bottom. KG:2 will be in stores by November in a striking array of colors with a ‘street’ price of $199. For the retailer nearest you, call 800-227-9224 or visit www.sunmountain.com. [Read more…]

At just five pounds, the bag contains 12 pockets, but still manages to keep the bulk off. There are pockets for valuables, phones, beverages, accessories (tees, balls, ball markers, etc.), and gear.
Dividers: Dividers at the top of the golf bag will keep your clubs organized and will limit the number of times they crash into each other. Some bags have only a few dividers, while others have a dozen or more dividers. The dividers in a less expensive bag will only be at the top of the golf bag, while more expensive units will have dividers that run the length of the bag, keeping the handles of your golf clubs from becoming tangled.

If you intend on carrying your gear out on the course, then weight should be one of your primary concerns. The last thing that you want to do is wrench your back out there just from carrying around your clubs. Even if you intend to use a push or pull cart, you will still want to go with something that is not too heavy. We suggest going with the most lightweight bag that you can find that has all of the other features that you want in one of these.

One of the most impressive things about this one is that it comes with the matching rain hood. At this price point, you don’t really expect to get get a rain hood when you’re looking at cheap golf stand bags. And the durable build is also unexpected for this price. Those things make this one great buy and an incredible value for the money right now. Plus, it is our top pick for the lightest golf stand bag that’s worth the price.
As you can see, this one has a LOT going for it. Not only does it have dividers for each club, but they are full length which means no tangling of the clubs! The straps on this one are probably one of the most comfortable that I’ve ever come across. They have a foam core with an ergonomic design and then this soft mesh extra padding that really makes it comfortable to wear while walking the course. And it has the standard hip pad that most of the bags like that come with. One of the surprising features here is that it has an e-trolley base system, which means that you can easily use this model with a push cart (if that interests you).
Cart: A cart bag has a sturdy base and a sturdy top made of hard plastic that allows it to sit upright nicely. These bags will fit perfectly on a riding cart or on a pull cart. However, the hard materials in the top and bottom can make these bags uncomfortable to carry while walking.
Larry Olmsted is well-known for being one of the world’s leading experts on golf travel and courses and has a great deal of knowledge about the best golf products on the market. Like he mentioned in his blog post, “I can tell you what gear to buy, especially for traveling, because I am a professional golf traveler. I’ve been writing about golf travel for more than 15 years and have logged millions of miles, played on every inhabited continent, and along the way, tested, purchased, cursed, praised, and broken lots of golf stuff.” [Read more…]
Bought this bag for airplane transport. Thought I would have to buy smaller golf bag but my clubs fit great in my original bag. Some padding on the bag makes me feel more confident my clubs will arrive in one piece. For the money its a great find.

Another consideration is the lining of the pockets – some bags have soft lined pockets and others with cooling capabilities. The velvet-lined pockets are good for keeping valuables in them, and the cooling capabilities of certain materials will allow you to keep a few beverages handy.  They can even help to keep your phone from overheating in the peak summer temperatures. In addition, a hood or umbrella slot helps you keep your clubs dry in the rain.
If you want something that it lightweight and that is designed for only a few of your clubs, then a carry bag is the choice for you. Usually this type is referred to as a Sunday bag by most golfers. It is designed to be carried, does not come with a stand, and typically only has enough room for the bare necessities – a few clubs, balls and tees. This is not something that you’d want for your everyday solution. Think of it more as a “just in case” bag that you keep in the trunk for those times when you’re not expecting to be out on the course, but the opportunity presents itself and you don’t want to pass it up. This type usually only weighs around two pounds empty.
Amazon buyer Kim was looking for an inexpensive golf bag as a gift and was pleased with the overall performance of this model, which is available in black with four different accent color options, including green, red, blue, or white.
Probably the biggest benefit to this one is that it is one of the lightest golf cart bags on the market right now. The material and construction is very durable and I love the 14-way divider system to keep the clubs separate. And moving it from the car trunk to the cart is very easy to do.
There’s plenty of functionality at a low price with the Cobra 2017 Ultralite Golf Bag. Weighing in at just 4.2 pounds not only is it an easy bag for those days walking the course, but it features six total pockets (five zippered and one slip) for plenty of storage.
With six dividers in the top of the golf bag, you can organize your clubs better than with most inexpensive bags. And the Tangkula bag has seven pockets that will help you keep your keys and other valuables safe as you play.
